Health Care Overview:
The Health Care Management program is designed for individuals interested in finding career opportunities in administrative or leadership positions within the diverse health care fields or within their own area of clinical/professional expertise. And, as the baby boomer generation grows older and advances in medical technology continue to improve. The need for health services workers in various medical career fields is increasing dramatically. According to the U.S. Department of Labor, employment in the health services industry is projected to increase 28 percent through 2012, compared with 16 percent for all industries combined.
Employers indicate the most desirable candidates will have the following qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree
- Experience in health care
- Strong business and management skills
In 1996, NAU added online courses through its Distance Learning virtual campus, offering degree programs in several academic areas. On a global level, National American University is a proven leader in distance education, developing partnerships throughout the United States and abroad. Currently, NAU has partnerships with many colleges throughout the U.S. as well as partnerships with schools around the world.
About the Program:
The curriculum is designed to give students a deeper knowledge of current health care management topics, operations and practices. Courses focus on the analytical skills necessary to implement and manage solutions in health care today. Additional emphasis is also placed on communication, teamwork, ethics, and the skills for managing diversity.
Two enrollment options are available for students:
Option 1: A “four year” program designed for students (including pre-nursing students) who with to enter the field but do not have a degree.
Option 2: A “degree completion” program that allows students with a previous nursing or allied health degree/diploma to get a bachelor’s in Health Care Management by combining your previous education with NAU’s curriculum. |
